It's snowing! Yes folks, Winter is not quite done with us yet.
But soon Spring will spread her warm cloak over us and it'll
be green again. If you're looking for something healthy to do
this weekend that's indoors, why not come see us at the Live
Smart Expo at the convention centre in Halifax. Beckie and I
will be at the FarmWorks booth promoting Annapolis Valley
Growers and our CSA. It's a great time to come see our smiling
faces, ask us any questions you have about our growing
practices, crops, payments and you'll be able to enter to win
a free month of veggie delivery. If you're one of the lucky
winners and already purchased your share, we will issue a
refund for the value or throw in some treats for you. So come
on down and find us Sunday March 6th from 1-4pm. See you
there!!
Although this spell of sunny weather is giving us all hope of
an early Spring, we still won't be out in the greenhouse for a
few more weeks. Nighttime temperatures below freezing are
disastrous to seedlings and as some of our specialty seeds are
expensive (we have some organic cucumber and tomato seeds that
cost $2 per seed) we want to take the best care of them that
we can. We have some tomatoes already started so that we can
get you tomatoes as early in the season as possible. I know
mid May seems like a long way away but trust me, it isn't when
you're doing all the planning for a successful CSA.
The CSA veggie box shares as well as eggs, bread etc. will be
available for purchase by February 20th and
we look forward to welcoming both old and new customers so
mark this date on your calendar. We were hoping to get it up
sooner but we are farmers not web developers and we have a few
bugs to work out. Don't worry, we asked for help and I'm sure
they can fix it lickety split!
Here's one thing for you to consider. What would you like us
to do with your share when you're on vacation? You do have
several options. We are happy to let another person pick up
for you if you let us know ahead of time, or another popular
thing is to donate your share. We take donations to the local
food banks near us and to people in need from young mothers to
seniors. Make sure you tell us when you fill in your form.
We look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions.

We're excited to be able to work together to bring you even
better selection and service and now delivery of our great
products from the valley to select locations in Sackville,
Halifax and Porters Lake. It's going to take a lot of
organization which is why we're starting now in the off season
before we get growing again in the early Spring with our
vegetables and our plants for sale. Oh what a busy year it's
going to be! And we can't wait to see our returning customers
and meet our new ones.
